Survey: Toxic company culture is top reason workers are quitting - iHeart's Talk Radio WLW broadcasting in Cincinnati asked Mohammad Anwar on come on the air and give his thoughts....
show moreIs it possible to change a toxic boss?
Mohammad says "yes" because he admits he was once a horrible boss himself.
He confesses in an article he wrote for Forbes:
"It took me a while to build an empathic connection with my team, because honestly, I was a terrible boss for a long time. I had to do some serious work to undo the consequences of my own behavior, which included creating a gulf of self-designed importance around myself that kept my staff away. I had no idea at the time what a mistake I was making by separating myself from my team. That’s just how I was taught business was done. I was copying the behaviors I saw from other corporate leaders because that’s what I thought would make me successful."
He's now leading a movement to change the way employees and bosses view their role in workplace culture.
He details his journey and offers tips in a Wall Street Journal bestselling book he co-authored: Love As A Business Strategy: Resilience, Belonging & Success. https://www.loveasabusinessstrategy.com
