WORD GOES WOKE
A wise man (Trump) once said: "Everything woke turns to sh*t."
Microsoft is rolling out a "woke-checker" to the 250 million people who use Word and the Microsoft Office suite. The update will give users suggestions for alternative words that are more politically correct and gender-inclusive.
Word currently uses a red underline to indicate a spelling error. It uses a green underline to indicate a grammatical error. The new purple underline will indicate the word that needs to be made more woke.
Here are some examples of the woke-checks you'll get:
Neil Armstrong's famous phrase: “one giant leap for mankind”, should be changed to "one giant leap for humankind” or “humanity”.
If you use the words “blacklist” and “whitelist”, it will suggest you change them to “not allowed list” or “allowed list."
If you type in the lyrics to Barry Manilow's 'Copacabana,' Microsoft suggests Lola be referred to as a "dancer" or "performer" instead of a "showgirl."
If you're typing a thank you letter to your "postman," Microsoft will suggest you call him a "mail carrier" or "postal worker."
Good perspective from tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy: "This is a mechanism of mind control. And look, am I really bothered or staying up in bed at night because of any one of those examples? Of course not. But it's another example of the power that these tech titans have to control the entire mind of a society."
Microsoft released a statement after receiving blowback:
"Editor is a completely optional tool that users can turn on or turn off at any point. Editor does not make any autocorrections."
Personally, I've been anti-Microsft since they got rid of Clippy, the helpful office assistant, back in 2007.
