  • Present Day Mystery Schools - applied holistic living with William Bloom and David Spangler

11 MAY 2023 · What once were the Mysteries might now be called “applied holistic living,” living in a manner that blends both the physical and non-physical sides of our nature and of the world. Indeed, the function of any true Mystery school is not to revel in mysteries but to make the world less mysterious, more known, more understood in ways that enhance our ability to work collaboratively with the forces of creation because we are one of those forces. The function of a Mystery school is revelation and empowerment. This is what David seeks to do in Lorian, and it also is a hallmark of William’s work. In fact, by invitation of the Shift Network, William has been invited to create a “contemporary Mystery school” that fulfills the criteria he set forth in his e-letter. Happily, he is doing so, and there are few people as qualified as he is. I’m delighted to bring David and William together to explore what it means to create a contemporary Mystery school. I hope you enjoy the conversation. If you would like to know more about Williams offering, please go tohttps://williambloom.com/.

  • Lucinda Herring - part 2: What does it mean to co-create with Nature, our Bodies and the Earth at the threshold of death?

18 JUN 2022 · Lucinda Herring returns to the podcast to continue our conversation. Lucinda has studied with David Spangler since the 1990’s, received her Masters in Spiritual Direction from Lorian in 2009, and was ordained as a Lorian priest in 2011. She has an eclectic spiritual path – blending Anthroposophy, the Ceile De tradition, and thirty years as a Vajrayana Buddhist practitioner with her Incarnational Spirituality/Sidhe/Gaian focus and practices today. Lucinda considers herself a Gatekeeper, helping others navigate life’s thresholds and passages in ways that build resiliency and co-creative connection with Gaia, nature and the subtle realms. She has focused on both ends of life, working with children and families as a festival maker, writer and storyteller, and also helping people reimagine what is possible at the threshold of death. Lucinda has been at the cutting edge of the green funeral movement for over twenty years now, as a death doula, home funeral guide and licensed green funeral director in the state of Washington. In 2019, she wrote Reimagining Death: Stories and Practical Wisdom for Home Funerals and Green Burials, published by North Atlantic Books, with a Forward by David Spangler. All of us tell stories about ourselves.  It’s one of the ways we make sense of the world and our place in it. This is especially important during times of unsettling transition and change.  At its best, to hear the stories of others inspires belief in the intentions we set for ourselves and in our capacity to reach these goals.
As Lorian, our goal is to advance the experience of wholeness in the world and in ourselves through on incarnated spirituality.  The story of our community is about the emergence of a new spiritual impulse and how it has made itself known through the work of a group of people responding to its call.
Uncommon Conversations is an opportunity for community members to tell their story, to give voice to the spiritual impulse arising within them and how they are embodying this call within their own incarnation.  In sharing our stories may we inspire each other to inhabit the fullness of our being.
