8 OCT 2023 · The Sisterhood of the Black Pen is a new anthology organization dedicated to guiding new indie authors through the publication process while showcasing the very best in indie horror.
They regularly host open submissions to their anthology program, and applicants receive helpful notes and developmental editing on their pieces- whether they are accepted or not.
The Sisterhood is the horror branch of Indie Knights, an initiative to provide community support and resources for talented indie authors through regular prompts and author features in a bid to build skills and confidence while demystifying the self publishing journey.
With a team of developmental editors, copy-line editors, formatters, and cover designers, Indie Knights also offers more tangible support and is ready to champion new authors and provide the support they need to produce work they can proudly release into the world.

Just my experience and a bit of advice from my point of view.
10 JAN 2023 · Melissa Allder identifies as a Black Caribbean Canadian woman. She was born in England and immigrated to Canada at a young age. Her pronouns are she and her.
Melissa (Kennesaw State University Georgia MEd) is an educator, advocate and a changemaker.
Melissa is known for both her educational and community leadership. She continues to not only advocate for marginalized students, but she makes an intentional effort to create a safe online platform for educators, students, and community members to share their experiences and concerns through various social media platforms.
One personal element about Melissa is that she is a recent breast cancer conqueror. She openly shared her vulnerability and strength to the world.
Melissa has brought awareness about Black women and breast cancer health disparities with Rethink Breast Cancer Nonprofit and was featured in Rethink’s ‘Uncovered: A Breast Recognition Project’ a resource that focuses on the breast cancer experiences of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour.
Today, Melissa’s passion project is creating financially accessible natural skincare, bath and body products through her small business “The Black Lotus BodyCare Co.” and she continues to advocate for others by donating proceeds to various non-profit organizations, while continuously empowering people who have been impacted by systemic and institutionalized inequities.
1 DEC 2022 · Sarah is a busy mother of 2 who left her day job in 2019 to focus more on her family. Becoming a stay at home mom for the first time in her life she decided to start an Instagram page as a way to connect with other moms. She established herself online by sharing the uncensored truths about motherhood in a space that felt very curated. She uses humour and honesty to help connect moms from all walks of life. She is an anti-bullying and mental health advocate who shares stories about her own experiences, and resources to help moms navigate these difficult topics. Over the past three years Sarah has heard from thousands of moms from all over the world who face many of the same universal struggles in raising their children. She has built a small but mighty community on instagram of women who support, uplift and encourage each other through the trials and tribulations of motherhood.
