26 JUL 2020 · Rebecca is American and has two children. We share our experiences of the challenges we faced getting the correct diagnosis for our children and how important it is to get professionals who understand and support the whole family at this challenging time. Rebecca talks about her son Jacob getting the diagnosis of Sensory Processing Differences only, while many of us in the UK only tend to hear about SPD as a dual diagnosis, alongside autism, Fragile X syndrome or Down Syndrome amongst others.
Rebecca talks about choosing to home school both her children and how this works for her family, about creating a home schooling community where families can meet up and socialise. Rebecca talks about writing a blog on her family’s experience of having a child with SPD, the strategies that have worked and how this has led to her putting it all together in her brilliant book- Sensational Kids, Sensational Families

12 JUL 2020 · Melissa has 3 children, Hennie her eldest is autistic, he was diagnosed as severe, non-verbal and low functioning. Melissa talks about having to fight her local authority to get the correct provision that suits his individual needs. Melissa took the local authority to a tribunal, even though winning the case, the fight continues. Melissa has spent a fortune on the tribunal as well as paying privately for Hennie’s therapies. Melissa realised many SEN families are going through similar experiences and many can’t afford private therapy sessions, so has set up HennieHub, a fantastic resource of speech and language, occupational and play therapy. HennieHub is affordable, easy to access short videos, delivered by highly qualified therapists.
