    The enchanting and fantastic oriental world offered the Ferniani Factory, always attentive to the latest innovations, a rich decorative repertoire to be interpreted in a western key. The lively fashion of chinoiserie made one of the most typical Faentine motifs flourish on maiolica: the “carnation”. The decoration is inspired by the flower native to China and is referred to in the archival papers as “new porcelain”. The oval tureen bears a decoration that recalls an imaginary Chinese garden with an unreal carnation flower blooming in a flowery blue meadow.
