27 MAY 2024 · In this episode, Dawn is joined by Kay from the podcast https://www.buzzsprout.com/1679521, and the pair talk about the unsolved murder of 50 year old Elizabeth Mackintosh.Â
Elizabeth Mackintosh was born in Scotland in 1940. She grew up in a devout family; her father, James, was a theology professor and later a moderator for the Free Church of Scotland. Elizabeth worked as a nurse and health visitor in Edinburgh, then a social worker in London, before moving to America. In St. Louis, she was a student at The Covenant Theological Seminary, working towards a master’s degree in biblical counselling while also working part-time as a cleaner to finance her studies.
Tragically, Elizabeth was found murdered in the seminary’s men’s toilet on 26 March 1990. The investigation into her death saw multiple suspects but ultimately remained unresolved, even as new leads emerged over the years. Despite advances in forensic technology and renewed efforts by the police, the case remains open, with the prime suspect, a fellow student and Elizabeth’s cleaning supervisor, never charged due to insufficient evidence. Elizabeth’s remaining family continue to seek closure for this heinous crime that took away a beloved sister and daughter. Elizabeth’s life and untimely death left an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her. Her story is one of dedication, faith, and the enduring quest for justice.
