27 MAY 2021 · MediaSmarts Education Director, Matthew Johnson, joins us this week to talk about how, despite some of the strongest regulations around advertising tobacco and vaping products to young people, there is still need for concern and vigilance on the part of parents and educators. Social media influencers, flavoured vaping pods and other methods used by companies to attract young people into nicotene addiction is part of this important conversation.

13 MAY 2021 · Given the importance of digital literacy skills to under-represented populations, MediaSmarts and YWCA Canada have partnered to develop and deliver DigitalSmarts, a digital literacy skills program.
The DigitalSmarts program is a series of eight hour-long workshops designed to teach important everyday digital skills. The workshops include hands-on activities and videos and cover topics such as:
- protecting privacy and security online
- job searching
- shopping and banking online
- using social media
- searching the internet effectively
- managing screen time for kids
Joining us today to talk about DigitalSmarts is Marc Alexandre Ladouceur, Media Education Specialist with MediaSmarts.
