Just Us and A Broken Criminal Justice System is dedicated to bringing attention to one of this countries most heinous pieces of legislation. The Felony Murder law/rule and the many lives that it has destroyed while it drive innocent people to either die in prison or plead guilty to crimes they never committed.

17 OCT 2020 · Do you know how you would act or react in a stressful and terrifying situation where your own life could be next? We would all like to think of ourselves as super-héros that could stop all evil but we are not bulletproof. Under extreme pressure and duress no one is really sure how they are going to act or what they will do even though we carry the best intentions. We will never know until we are placed in that situation.
Justin was convicted of 1st degree murder (even though he didn’t actually murder anyone) in 2010 and sentenced to natural life without parole. He is currently incarcerated at SCI in Georgetown. Justin has been incarcerated for 13 years now as a gross miscarriage of justice.

25 MAY 2020 · At the age of 16 Sean O'Brien was wrongfully charged and convicted of felony murder, a crime he had nothing to do with. Accused by the two young men who did commit the crime in an effort to protect their friend, the third person involved in the crime. No physical evidence, changing testimony of the other two men, Sean's rock solid alibi and a time line that made it impossible for Sean to have been at the scene of crime was not enough to save him in a justice system that cares not about truth. Listen as Sean's wife Emelia takes us through the details of the case. You will be left wondering how someone like this could happen. Sadly it happens all too often.

29 APR 2020 · In part two of our special podcast we talk with Steven Bobo. Steven is an advocate in criminal justice reform, was once a correctional officer who later found himself incarcerated. He went on to work with at risk teens and develop many advocacy groups on his own. He is now a published author.
We also spoke with Darla, a parent and an advocate, who is watching helplessly as the covid19 begins spreading in prison facilities in her state. She talks to us about the issues that he son faces during this crisis and what her day looks like knowing that she is powerless to help him.

24 APR 2020 · The crisis in our prisons and jails is growing at an alarming rate. Everyone should be speaking out and contacting your officials demanding that they cut through the bureaucratic red tape. There simply is not enough time to stand by and use the wait and see approach. Prisons and jails all around the country are being overwhelmed, not only with inmates becoming infected but also the staff who then carry this home to their families who then bring it into the community. This is an issue for ALL people, not just advocates and families of those incarcerated. Take a stand. Speak out.
