26 JUL 2024 · Andreas Varady is a young Jazz Guitarist in his mid 20's who has been on teh scene since the tender of age of 12 under the guidance of folks like Quincy Jones, George Benson and Martin Taylor to name but a few. I had the pleasure of interviewing Andreas when he was 14 and figured it was time to see what he was up to a decade or so later. Turns out he has a new album that was just released - Sunrise - and he's sounding and writing better than ever.
We had a great chat and he went into a lot of stuff about his early days and what he's been up to recently. Plus there are a few susprises that you may not know about Andreas. Oh...and be sure to stick around to the end of the podcast as Andreas offers up a tune from his latest release. I think you just might dig it!
And if you wanna check out the interview I did with Andreas years ago, please feel free to drop by Jazz Guitar Life and do an easy search for him. 1 FEB 2024 · Bruce Forman and Pat Bergeson are working on a very special recording and tour to celebrate Barney Kessel and Chet Atkins 100th birthdays and are https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bruceforman/100-bc.
In this Jazz Guitar Life podcast, both Bruce and Pat share their respective tales of Barney and Chet, the relationship each has with their respective iconic instruments and they also share with us the "WHY" in relation to this special project and how we - the Jazz Guitar Community - can be of help in getting this project off the ground and into our homes.
Slight disclaimer: I wanted to get this podcast "on the air" quickly before the kickstarter campaign ends on February 15, 2024 so I did practically no editing at all. There will be a bunch of "Uhmmms" and pregnant pauses but honestly, that does not detract from the informative and entertaining chat we all had. Think of it as being the proverbial "fly on the wall" :) And now ladies and gentlemen, Bruce Forman and Pat Bergeson...

30 DEC 2023 · Podcasters note: I mistakenly called this podcast, episode 18. It is in fact episode 19.
I first became aware of writer, producer and author Bill Milkowski back in the mid to late 70's, when, as a young up-and-coming rock guitar player, I started buying Guitar Player Magazine. As my pursuit shifted to Jazz Guitar, Bill's writing was right there with me in such publications as Downbeat, Jazz Times, Guitar World and other top-shelf publications. Not to mention countless album liner notes. Suffice it to say, his writing is just as impactful today as it was when I was 17.
In this podcast, Bill and I talk about Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Jaco Pastorious and much more. He is definitely full of surprises and has a vast wealth of knowledge in both the Jazz and Rock worlds.
It’s a fun, insighful, informative and entertaining interview and is definitely worth checking out! I think you're really gonna enjoy this one!
