Where Mothers, Rebels & Disrupters raising the roof on disability rights & housing outcomes share their stories
26 JAN 2023 · This is an intensely personal episode, my conversation with someone I have known since she was about 4 years old. She is a remarkable sibling who decided to ask uncomfortable questions and share her own home truths, in a very personal, yet public way. She wanted to 'stand up' and talk frankly about the future, and housing options for her non-verbal autistic brother. Morgan discusses the research and interviews that led her to create a short radio documentary Stuck In The Nest and our conversation includes extracts from the recordings she made.
2 JAN 2023 · We are staying in Colorado to find out why this state is regarded by our disrupters & experts as a leader in forward thinking on affordable, accessible & neuroinclusive housing options. And we are getting the inside track on how universal or smart design is an integral part of Trailhead Community, now under construction in the Denver metro area. This episode takes us to the heart of our disrupters mission to create community integration and independent living toolkits that go for beyond bricks and mortar.

30 NOV 2022 · "If you build it, they will come..." but how did our pioneers do it? From East to West Coast USA, our disrupters tell us about their adventures in making dream residential solutions for the neurodiverse community a reality and the data that is rewarding their risk-taking. They share the goals, toolkits & funding approaches that are helping them challenge the current system around supportive housing & the affordable housing industry. Our candid and timely commentary from our participants will make you want to put on your campaigning boots and join the movement.

Our candid and timely commentary from our participants will make you want to put on your campaigning boots and join the movement.
22 NOV 2022 · In the series premiere episode, we meet our disrupters for the first time as they guide us through the challenges faced by individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilites when it comes to finding 'home' and we get a history lesson about the disturbing legacy of Institutions as a housing solution. We also hear from some early pioneers/mothers who refused to accept what was out there in terms of future living arrangements for their loved ones and decided to build something different. We eavesdrop on some conversations among residents experiencing life at First Place -Phoenix and Main Street Connect, Rockville Maryland. And we hear some fighting talk from those bucking the system right now, as they literally break ground on communities that will make a difference, near Denver, Colorado.
3 NOV 2022 · Eavesdrop on snippets of my conversations with some of the podcast's contributors, and hear my audio diary about why I made this podcast about some home truths around the complex and vexed subject of 'living arrangements' faced by thousands and thousands of people who are often treated as, 'less than' by society and have little voice in where or how they live their lives.
My passion is advocating within the autism and IDD community. Alongside people who have developmental and intellectual disabilities campaigning for change, I know we can do different. My dream is that truly accessible, more affordable, and neuro-inclusive housing options emerge everywhere. I am sharing this podcast series to inspire collaborations and conversations in this space around the movement for better supportive housing opportunities and accessibility.
