Dark Tales Uncovered – Season 9 GRIMES: BEFORE THE WALLS KNEW HIS NAME Chapter 18 – Accidents Happen
8 OCT 2026 · Phil Rogers is gone.
His death was ruled an accident.
And Brian Grimes has learned a terrifying lesson.
People accept accidents.
In Chapter 18 – Accidents Happen, Brian settles into his new position at Rosewood. He has more responsibility, more freedom and, most importantly…
more keys.
But something inside Brian changed the night Phil died.
He crossed a line.
And nothing happened.
Nobody discovered the truth.
Nobody suspected him.
Instead, Rosewood seemed to reward him.
Now Brian begins looking at the residents differently.
He sees their pain.
Their fear.
Their suffering.
And slowly, Brian convinces himself that perhaps some problems aren't meant to be fixed.
Perhaps they're meant to be…
finished.
When another resident dies unexpectedly, Rosewood sees nothing suspicious.
Old age.
Poor health.
A peaceful passing.
Then comes another incident.
Another tragedy.
Another explanation.
Accidents happen.
But Brian knows differently.
And the most frightening thing is that this isn't about revenge anymore.
Brian isn't angry.
He's calm.
Methodical.
Convinced he's helping.
Even the language inside his notebook begins to change.
He no longer records when someone died.
He records when they were…
finished.
Deep beneath Rosewood, the boiler continues beating.
Thump. Thump. Thump.

Rosewood calls it a tragic accident.
Brian Grimes knows differently.
In Chapter 17 – A Promotion No One Notices, life at Rosewood Care Home continues after the storm — and Brian waits for the consequences of the choice he made in the boiler room.
Questions.
Suspicion.
Perhaps even an investigation.
Instead…
almost nothing happens.
Rosewood still needs to function.
Rooms need cleaning.
Repairs need completing.
Problems need solving.
And with Phil gone, staff increasingly turn towards the one man who seems to know every corner of the building.
Brian Grimes.
There is no official announcement.
No congratulations.
No new job title.
Brian is simply trusted with more responsibility.
First come the cupboards.
Then the supply rooms.
Then the laundry.
Until eventually, someone places Phil Rogers' old keys into Brian's hand.
The man Phil once dismissed as insignificant has quietly taken his place.
And Brian discovers something chilling.
Rosewood barely seems to miss Phil at all.
But Brian?
Rosewood needs him.
That night, Brian returns to the boiler room wearing Phil's keys.
No guilt.
No regret.
Just the growing certainty that everything is finally where it belongs.
The boiler answers.
Thump. Thump. Thump.

When their confrontation turns physical, Phil slips.
Brian catches him.
And suddenly, Phil Rogers' life is literally in Brian Grimes' hands.
Brian could save him.
For a few seconds, he has a choice.
Then Phil does something Brian has never heard before.
He begs.
Rosewood falls quiet.
The boiler beats beneath them.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Brian looks at the man who has tormented him since he arrived and quietly says:
"Only one of us belongs here."
Then he lets go.
By morning, Rosewood will have an explanation.

The floor is cleaned.
The boiler is checked.
Everything is put back exactly where it belongs.
