28 OCT 2020 · There are many aspects as to why a Universal Basic Income, UBI, would help unpaid family caregivers the best for financial stability. This list of 10 reasons is by no means comprehensive, but might help those who aren't caregivers to understand why the nature of the work leads to needing more than programs that are currently offered
9 OCT 2020 · The problem with being precariat when negotiating is that not bringing anything to the table to get favorable terms. The Universal Basic Income gives the power to enforce a "No" which makes a big differnece. It's not just about getting what you need, but also not being subjected to abuse when working for someone, or even helping someone. It's hard to set and enforce boundaries without any agency in the agreement.

Caregiving is the foundational work that supports all other work. Now, more than ever, now that so many are still on lockdown, the home has become where we live, work, get educated, and taken care of. Taking care of ourselves, our family, loved ones, is the default essential healthcare, too. The Universal Basic Income would help so much in making it all work.

12 SEP 2020 · The Precariat are those who live in precarious circumstance due to poverty or intermittent work situations. Most caregivers are in the precariat position, with care devalued to the point of not being compensated enough or at all. Doing a job 24/7 uncompensated, or compensated non-monetarily makes for extra helpings of stress on top of work that is already stressful.
