The film tells the story of a Korean-American family who have moved to rural Arkansas in search of the American Dream. Join us as we discuss what makes this Oscar-winning film so wonderful.

But Crazy Rich Asians was far from a lightning-in-a-bottle situation; it was the product of decades of prior achievements and incremental progress, from pioneering actors to Oscar wins. Join us as we look back at some of the most significant breakthroughs of Asian American representation in contemporary media.

From Crazy Rich Asians to Parasite to Chloe Zhao's most recent Oscar win, it feels like watershed moment for Asian representation in Hollywood. But, this success didn't come out of nowhere. Join us as we look back at the most successful Asian American entertainers of the 19th and 20th century, and attempt to answer the question: When did Asian American cinema really begin?
