Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá amháin, bhí Aoife, Seán, agus Niamh ag siúl ar bhruach na hAille.
En: One day, Aoife, Seán, and Niamh were walking by the Cliffs of Moher.

Ga: Bhí an ghrian ag scoilteadh na gcloch agus an ghaoth ciúin go leor ar dtús.
En: The sun was splitting the stones and the wind was calm enough at first.

Ga: Bhí radharcanna áille na n-aillte os comhair na dtriúr cairde agus iad ag siúl go cúramach chun an radharc is fearr a fháil don selfie foirfe.
En: The beautiful views of the cliffs were in front of the three friends as they walked carefully to get the best view for the perfect selfie.

Ga: "Breathnaigh ar an bhfarraige!" arsa Niamh agus í ag léiriú síos ar uisce gorm gléineach an Atlantaigh.
En: "Look at the sea!" said Niamh, pointing down to the gleaming blue waters of the Atlantic.

Ga: Thóg Aoife a hata deas nua, leideanna súilíní air, agus chuir sí ar a ceann é chun go mbeadh sí go hálainn sa ghrianghraf atá le teacht.
En: Aoife put on her nice new hat, adjusted her sunglasses, and put it on to ensure she would look beautiful in the upcoming photograph.

Ga: Rinne Seán magadh fúithi ach bhí a fhios aici go mbeadh éad air nuair a chífeadh sé an pictiúr deireanach.
En: Seán teased her, but she knew he would be jealous when he saw the final picture.

Ga: D'ullmhaigh siad an fón póca agus shocraigh Sián an t-uillinn is fearr.
En: They prepared the mobile phone and chose the best angle.

Ga: D'fhéach Aoife go huaigneach amach ar an muir, a ghruaig ag lonrú faoin ngrian. Díreach mar a bhí Seán ag brú ar an gcnaipe, phreab an ghaoth suas gan choinne agus rugadh léi hata Aoife ón a ceann amach thar an aill.
En: While Aoife looked pensively out to sea, her hair shining in the sun, just as Seán pressed the button, the wind suddenly leaped up and lifted Aoife's hat from her head over the cliff.

Ga: "Mo hata!" liúigh Aoife. Thosaigh sí ag lúbadh chun é a shábháil, ach bhí sé ró-dhéanach. Shnámh an hata amach sa ghaoth, ag eitilt thar an imeall go dtí an t-uisce thíos.
En: "My hat!" cried Aoife. She started to reach to save it, but it was too late. The hat floated out in the wind, flying over the edge and down into the water below.

Ga: Seán agus Niamh rith chun Aoife a choinneáil ó dul ró-ghar don imeall.
En: Seán and Niamh ran to keep Aoife from getting too close to the edge.

Ga: Bhí Aoife croíbhriste. "Is cairde sibh," a dúirt sí le deora ag glioscarnach ina súile.
En: Aoife was heartbroken. "You are friends," she said with tears shimmering in her eyes.

Ga: "Ná bí buartha," arsa Seán. "Níl sa hata ach píosa éadaigh."
En: "Don't worry," said Seán. "It's just a piece of cloth in the hat."

Ga: Shocraigh siad suí síos agus taitneamh a bhaint as an lá álainn a bhí acu, in ainneoin na dtrioblóid.
En: They decided to sit down and enjoy the beautiful day they had, despite the trouble.

Ga: Agus iad ag breathnú amach os cionn an Atlantaigh, tháinig tuiscint nua orthu faoin tábhacht a bhaineann le cairdeas seachas rudaí ábhartha.
En: As they looked out over the Atlantic, they came to a new understanding about the importance of friendship over material things.

Ga: Sa deireadh, rinne Niamh moladh.
En: In the end, Niamh made a suggestion.

Ga: "Céard faoi selfie eile?" ar sí. "An uair seo, fágaimis na hataí inár málaí agus glacfaimid pictiúr dínn féin, díreach mar atáimid."
En: "What about another selfie?" she said. "This time, we'll leave the hats in our bags and take a picture of ourselves, just as we are."

Ga: Ghlac siad an grianghraf gan hataí, leis an ngaoth ag siosarnach mórthimpeall orthu, agus an ghrian ag taitneamh níos gile ná riamh.
En: They took the photo without hats, with the wind blowing around them and the sun shining brighter than ever.

Ga: Aoife rinne gáire fíor. Thug sí faoi deara nach raibh aici ach a cairde chun í a dhéanamh sona, agus go raibh an grianghraf seo níos luachmhaire ná aon hata dá dtiocfadh léi a shamhlú.
En: Aoife genuinely laughed. She noticed that she only needed her friends to make her happy and that this photo was more valuable than any hat she could imagine.

Ga: Agus an lá sin ar na hAillte Móra, fuair Aoife, Seán, agus Niamh amach nach bhfuil sa saol ach na chuimhní a chruthaímid, agus na daoine atá linn agus muid á ndéanamh.
En: And that day on the Cliffs of Moher, Aoife, Seán, and Niamh discovered that life is nothing but the memories we create and the people we have with us while making them.
