I don't think Fauna would have killed herself. She talked to her dad every day, it seems, and she knew she was his only child and immediate family member remaining, even tho she was upset by her brother's recent death. Her mentioning "angels" and picking up a hitchhiker (something that would help somebody else) might have been associated with some people referring to people on earth helping other people as "angels" here on Earth...this "helping" might have been a new thing for her, even tho she was a very nice caring person. Maybe the hitchhiker called her an angel for helping? If she killed herself, she couldn't continue on helping people...so she didn't do that. Since the jeep was locked, that rules out her running for her life in fear or being abducted right out of her car. It shows she left the jeep willingly and with the heavily wooded area, creek nearby a mile or so away she had passed, and cartel activity (not safe, which she wouldn't have known)...maybe she decided to take a hike? Bought a lantern and 3 flashlights earlier, but was still going to stay at a motel??? Unless the previous motel's lights or power went off (and then she'd only need one flashlight or lantern...not several), it sounds like she was going hiking, but not camping as she had made the other motel reservation and had no tent. Maybe the last motel was so bad (which her dad said she said) that she was thinking, if the next one was bad too, I'll just sleep in my car, which she could have then used the flashlights? Fauna's friend initially theorized that Fauna went hiking/camping, which she loved and had a lot of experience with, but wouldn't have been missing this long. Other middle-aged women have been missing from the area also previously. I think we have our answer here, IMHO. She drove past the creek, saw the lovely wooded area, decided to take a long hike thru the woods to contemplate life and remember her brother, maybe to the creek and back, who knows, and either she accidentally fell into the creek (body floated away) or more likely, she was attacked in the woods, possibly robbed, raped, killed and buried in a shallow grave. Woods are hard to find anything in and you can cover up shallow graves, or her body could have been dumped into the creek, again, to float away. If she just had an accident in the woods (fell down a ditch and broke her leg, died of hypothermia, etc.) or was attacked by a wild animal, they would have found her or her clothing in the search. I honestly think someone saw a woman alone in a remote wooded area late in the afternoon or she came upon them making meth or something illegal, attacked her & killed her to get rid of any witnesses, poor lady. She was in grief so preoccupied...probably didn't occur to her it might be unsafe. As a woman, you couldn't pay me enough to hike or jog alone, especially in an isolated area. Poor lady, R.I.P. Poor dad who h-a-s to know that his only remaining daughter is long gone. My sympathies to the family.
