At the moment of Jesus' death on the cross (Matthew 27:51), the curtain veil in the Holy of Holies was torn from top to bottom in the presence of the High Priest offering the Passover Blood. God reveals that Christ's death made a new and living way to restore you to Himself. Christ is the way (John 14:6) God reconnects you to Himself through His death to present you as holy, flawless, and blameless in His presence. (Colossians 1:19-22)
When Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “It is finished” (John 19:30), and gave up His spirit. (Matthew 27:50) His body died, but His Spirit (the Spirit of God) was alive with important work to do before His Ressurection. Jesus destroyed death and sins dominion over you (Hebrews 2:14, Romans 8:2), having stripped away every weapon and spiritual authority from the principalities and powers of darkness. (Colossians 2:15)
Jesus descended to Hades into Abraham’s bosom, the place of comfort (Luke 16:23), and proclaimed liberty to the captives – those who had died in faith looked forward to the day of the Messiah. (Ephesians 4:8-10) Christ Jesus took those believers with Him and the thief on the cross to Heaven. And, if publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation and go immediately to heaven upon your death if you believe. (Romans 10:9-10)
