This week's podcast will be with noted distributist author John Medaille. We'll discuss the following questions. You are cordially invited to send us more. Stay tuned!
The Week in Review: a Distributist Perspective
1. There will always be wars and rumors of war. With them come calls for patriotic participation in them. Is there a distributist perspective on international conflicts?
2. Remember the cry “Throw the bums out”? The presidential impeachment process, however, has never managed to do so. What might a distributist suggest as a mechanism to remove a dangerous president?
3. Brexit has left the battered British eager to move on. Is there a distributist view of the Battle over Brexit?
4. “What we have here is a failure to communicate,” says the villain in the Cool Hand Luke.
In today’s politics, has Twitter exacerbated this failure? Or would a distributist see Twitter as an avenue to expand and potentially enrich political discussion?
5. How might a distributist compare and contrast the Iowa Primary Caucus System with, say, the New Hampshire Primary?
6. Have the mainstream media ever been fair and balanced in matters political? What would it take to bring a distributist voice to the New York Times or NBC?
7. What are your thoughts, as a distributist, about Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s entry into the politics of the Democratic presidential candidates contest?
8. Should we welcome celebrities, in light of their popular appeal, into our political debates? Or are celebrities themselves “commodities” that further distort today’s politics?
9. Just how naked is the Public Square? And why should the question matter to a distributist?
10. Why should a distributist vote in elections that are “constructed” by largely anti-distributist political mechanisms?
