With Polish death metal legends Vader set to release their 16th album Solitude in Madness on May 1, vocalist/guitarist Piotr Wiwczarek joins us for a chat from his home base to run through what is another typical brutally destructive release.

The title alone is a perfect analogy for the current times we live in, with Piotr letting out a chuckle when I ask if was intentional.

"People can interpret that in their own personal way", he smiled, "which is alright, I like that. We just give the art and give the music with some lyrics and the stories. Many fans and people see today's situation in the cover and the music and the title so why not? Actually the title, Solitude In Madness, is all about us in this crazy world and now is even crazier".

Solitude in Madness is another brutal slab of metal of Vader, but Piotr defers from his own personal enjoyment of the finished product when pressed, and instead throws it open to the people who matter most - the fans.

"It's not me who is supposed to be happy", he laughed. "I'm waiting on fans because I want to make them happy, Since the beginning, Vader has always been about the brutality, but this one is different to the last album. It may seem different to the fans that joined us over the last two decades when Vader was kind of different but this album is more focussed on speed and intensity so it reminds me a bit of Vader's roots in our first decade of existence, especially albums like Litany and Black to the Blind. I really hope people will like this one as well. The old fans and veterans and those who have known us from the very beginning will see this as a step back to our roots".

In the full interview, Piotr talks about the goals Vader had with the album, goes into greater detail on the musical content, recording out of their comfort zone in England and working with a new producer, the climate that gave birth to Vader and how it influenced their music and more.
