Trooper Shot in The Neck After Using PIT Maneuver on Suspect
February 12, 2022- A New Mexico State Police officer was dispatched to a gas station for a woman believed to be using drugs in the bathroom. Upon the Trooper making contact the suspects fled but not before hitting the Troopers vehicle. The Trooper gave chase for a few miles before using a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle. The Driver opened fire on the Trooper hitting him in the neck. The Trooper fired back hitting the driver in the lip with a few bullet fragments. The suspects fled on foot and were apprehended the following day by SWAT. The Trooper was treated for his injuries and later released. Both suspects were out on bond at the time of the shooting.
