Story Transcript:

Af: Op 'n skitterende Saterdagoggend het Pieter vrolik opgestaan.
En: On a splendid Saturday morning, Pieter cheerfully got up.

En: He was excited to go to The Market, where he sells his famous boerewors and biltong every weekend.

Af: Die mark was 'n kleurvolle plek vol geluide, geure en vriendelike mense.
En: The market was a colorful place full of sounds, smells, and friendly people.

En: Johan, with his fresh vegetables, always stood next to him, and Lara, who made the tastiest koeksisters in the whole town, was right across from them.

Af: Maar op hierdie Saterdag was alles anders.
En: But on this Saturday, everything was different.

En: The wind began to pick up, so strong that it shook the banners and tent pegs.

En: Pieter had never experienced such wind at The Market before.

En: It howled around the corners of the stalls and even made the old oak trees sway.

En: Despite the wind, Pieter set up his gazebo and unpacked his meats.

En: The wors curled and the biltong smelled delicious.

En: People gathered and chatted, ready to do their Saturday shopping.

En: Suddenly, with a strong gust of wind, the gazebo's pegs came loose and it started to soar like a big bird.

Af: "My vleise!
En: "My meats!"

En: Pieter exclaimed as he chased after it.

En: The gazebo swayed and spun, and Pieter dove and jumped, but the wind was too strong.

En: Johan saw the commotion and stepped in to help.

Af: "Hou vas, Pieter!
En: "Hold on, Pieter!

Af: Ek's hier!
En: I'm here!"

En: he shouted as he tried to grab the gazebo on the other side.

En: But the wind just blew stronger, and now Johan was also running after the uncontrollable gazebo.

Af: Mense het begin lag en wys.
En: People started laughing and pointing.

Af: Nie omdat hulle sleg was nie, maar omdat dit so 'n snaakse gesig was – twee mans wat 'n fladderende tent deur die mark agternasit.
En: Not because they were mean, but because it was such a funny sight - two men chasing a fluttering tent through the market.

En: Lara set down her koeksisters and hurried to the scene.

Af: Sy was altyd die een met 'n plan.
En: She was always the one with a plan.

Af: "Staan almal in 'n lyn!
En: "Everyone, stand in a line!"

Af: " het sy beveel.
En: she ordered.

En: The market people began to work together, each leaving their own stall to help.

Af: Saam het hulle die unhengul omsingel.
En: Together, they surrounded the gazebo.

En: With a powerful leap, Lara grabbed the tent flap and held on.

En: One by one, everyone pitched in, and eventually they forced the gazebo to a standstill.

En: With a sigh of relief, Pieter got his meats back, still intact and ready to be sold.

En: Johan laughed and put his hat back on, and Lara clapped her hands to her sides and said, "That's how we do things here!"

En: From that day on, The Market wasn't just a place for buying and selling, but a place where everyone stands together when the wind blows.

En: Pieter never lost his gazebo again, because he now had the support of his friends and the whole community.

En: And every time a new wind started blowing at The Market, everyone smiled and prepared to stand together once again.
