El: Το ανοιχτό βιβλίο της Αθήνας απεικονίζει ανά τους αιώνες τις ιστορίες των ανθρώπων που την έχουν κατοικήσει.
En: The open book of Athens depicts throughout the centuries the stories of the people who have inhabited it.

El: Μία από αυτές αφορά τον Δημήτριο, έναν απλό άνθρωπο της θρασείας πόλης.
En: One of these stories concerns Dimitrios, a simple man from the bustling city.

El: Ο Δημήτριος ήταν λάτρης της μαγειρικής.
En: Dimitrios was a lover of cooking.

El: Έκανε την καλύτερη μουσακά στη θάλασσα του Σαρωνικού.
En: He made the best moussaka in the Saronic sea.

El: Μια μέρα όμως, ενώ ο Δημήτριος καθόταν στον προαύλιο χώρο του Ακροπολιτικού μουσείου ετοιμάζοντας την αγαπημένη του συνταγή, τυχαία κατέβηκε ο διάολος.
En: One day, while Dimitrios was sitting in the courtyard of the Acropolis Museum preparing his favorite recipe, the devil accidentally descended.

El: Καθώς ο Δημήτριος ανακάτευε απαλά την μουσακά του, το πιάτο ξέφυγε από τα χέρια του, σαρώνοντας τον αέρα με ένα ελαφρύ στεναγμό, και αποτυπώθηκε στην πέτρινη λευκότητα του αγάλματος της Αθηνάς.
En: As Dimitrios gently stirred his moussaka, the dish slipped from his hands, swirling through the air with a light groan, and imprinted itself on the stone whiteness of the statue of Athena.

El: Ο Δημήτριος αγαλλιάστηκε.
En: Dimitrios rejoiced.

El: "Ωχ!
En: "Oh!"

El: " φώναξε, παρακολουθώντας την καφέ κηλίδα που υπερίσχυε πάνω στην αγιασμένη ψύχρα του μαρμάρου.
En: he exclaimed, watching the brown stain that prevailed on the sacred chill of the marble.

El: Ο έντονος φόβος πουν τον κατάλαβε, στρογγυλοκάθισε στο έδαφος, πεσμένος στις σκέψεις του.
En: Intense fear took hold of him, and he sat on the ground, lost in his thoughts.

El: Η Αθηνά, η προστάτιδα της πόλης, ήταν βεβηλωμένη με το μείγμα πατάτας, κρεάτος και μελιτζάνας.
En: Athena, the protector of the city, had been defiled with the mixture of potatoes, meat, and eggplant.

El: Ο Δημήτριος ξεκίνησε να επισκευάζει τη ζημιά, καθαρίζοντας το άγαλμα με το υψηλότερο σεβασμό και προσοχή.
En: Dimitrios began to repair the damage, cleaning the statue with the utmost respect and care.

El: Οι πέραστοι τον κοιτούσαν, λίγο με ενόχληση, αλλά και λίγο με ενθάρρυνση.
En: Passersby looked at him, some with annoyance, but also with encouragement.

El: Όταν ο ναός ήταν και πάλι καθαρός, ο Δημήτριος υποκλίθηκε μπροστά στην Αθηνά, ζητώνταςς συγχώρηση και εκβιάζοντας μυστική υπόσχεση.
En: When the temple was clean again, Dimitrios bowed before Athena, asking for forgiveness and making a secret promise.

El: Ποτέ πια δεν θα ετοιμάζει μουσακά δίπλα σε ιερά αγάλματα.
En: Never again would he prepare moussaka next to sacred statues.

El: Ο Δημήτριος είχε αποδείξει το σεβασμό του στην Αθηνά, και τώρα ήταν έτοιμος να επιστρέψει στην πλάκα, να συνεχίσει την εκτέλεση της μαγειρικής του αγάπης.
En: Dimitrios had shown his respect to Athena and was now ready to return to his craft, to continue the execution of his culinary passion.

El: Η εμπειρία η οποία υπήρξε μέρος της δικής του, της Αθήνας, έχει τώρα ένα πιο ολοκληρωμένο, πιο δεσμευτικό κεφάλαιο.
