6-3-19 Answers for the Family Interview with Lydia Fenet
Host: Allen Cardoza & Co-Host: Gabriella van Rij
When Lydia Fenet steps on stage for a charity auction, she knows how to captivate and sell to thousands of people—she’s raised over half a billion dollars for nonprofits globally. After all of her well-earned success, Lydia has crafted a manifesto to inspire, motivate, and push you to achieve your goals—and then set higher ones. Written in Lydia’s poised and relatable voice, The Most Powerful Woman in the Room prepares readers with everything they need to know to successfully sell themselves in every facet of their lives, whether it be seeking a new career or promotion, selling a company, or improving their overall public speaking, networking, and negotiation skills.
With poignant charm, smart sensibility, and inspiring anecdotes, Lydia describes her own personal and professional journey—from landing an internship at Christie’s to combatting being paid a third of her worth to spearheading a new department of international strategic partnerships. Now, more powerful than ever, she’s sharing her tried and true secrets of success.
Find your own “strike method”: To get in the zone and command a crowd at an auction, Lydia always strikes her gavel three times—she even carries a gavel with her at all times “just in case.” What’s your strike method?
• Be authentic: Don’t try to “play the part.” Tap into your personality, be yourself, and sell yourself.
• You are what you negotiate: Don’t be afraid to ask questions or advocate for yourself.
• Grow stronger each time you fail: Use failure as a learning tool to help you grow.
• You’re only as good as your word: Your reputation is everything. Keep your promises.
• Command your audience: Practice, speak from your heart, and bring enthusiasm!
• Inspire others and lead with conviction and build a community with like-minded peers.
Each chapter is complemented by case studies, insight, and exclusive advice from some of the most powerful and successful women in business, fashion, journalism, and the arts. You’ll learn what being the most powerful woman in the room means to Martha Stewart, Barbara Corcoran, Nina Garcia, Deborah Roberts, and more. With all of these surefire components, The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is an empowering guide that will have you winning over the audiences in all aspects of your life in no time
