With everything that is going on in the world, I believe it’s important to have these uncomfortable conversations. On the latest episode of “The Lou Down”, I had my good friend, Justin Pilgrim on the show.
Justin and I have been friends since we were kids, growing up next door to each other as neighbours when we were growing up in Malton (a suburb in the Greater Toronto Area). Justin’s parents are from Jamaica and Guyana and during our chat, we had an open conversation around:
- Racism growing up in Toronto
- Cultural segregation in the GTA
- Police and their approach to the black community
- Systemic racism
- What needs to change moving forward
