Melissa was born on July 10, 1985. In 2009, at the age of 24, she went missing from the Bronx, New York. She worked as an escort, and her disappearance raised concerns among her family and friends, who reported her missing to the authorities. In December 2010, the remains of Melissa Barthelemy, along with those of several other victims, were discovered in the vicinity of Gilgo Beach on Long Island. This grim discovery initiated a high-profile investigation into the Long Island Serial Killer case.Melissa's family and friends remembered her as a vibrant, caring, and ambitious young woman who had left her hometown of Buffalo to pursue her dreams in New York city.
After her disappearance, a number of phone calls were made to Melissa's family, especially her younger sister Amanda. Those phone calls, according to reports were gruesome and the killer (who is allged to be Heuermann) went into great detail about what he did to Melissa.
Now, all these years later, those phone calls are coming back to bite Heuermann as investigators have laid out how they tracked the alleged serial killer using digitial data.
