“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Matthew 6:28-29 Jesus is talking to his followers here and they're primarily blue-collar workers, people who have legitimate concerns about how they're going to put food on the table or clothes on their kid's back. For the wealthier disciples in the crowd, they may have been concerned not with having clothes, but with having the best clothes. One of the sad things about the human heart is that we like to carve out new pits to fill with anxiety even when there's no legitimate need. Whom we're not worried about being clothed, we're worried about being admired. Jesus says it's foolish to focus on clothing because God is your provider. That means you have enough for this moment and the next and the next. This statement will always be true for you. What a good Father we have and He is where the joy is.
