Romans 8 continues to be a pivotal chapter on the study of the creation and the resurrection. it has been tempting for some to interpret the creation as a reference to nature, inclusive of plants, trees, birds & bees, bugs and slugs and all in between. However, as pointed out in the previous week, Wright has admitted that the role of the Spirit is all about the 2nd Exodus. This is fatal to the paradigm of a renewed earth because the exodus works within a paradigm of 40 years, the exact same time between Pentecost and 70 AD.
The creation was waiting to be delivered into the sons of God. According to Luke 20:34-35, this is the time of the resurrection of the dead. It answers to the creation of Psalm 102:18 as the generation in the time to come.
