Story Transcript:
Hu: A budapesti éjszaka lámpái fénnyel töltötték meg az Andrássy úti bérház elegáns étkezőjét. Régmúlt napok eleganciája tükröződött az aranyozott tükrökben, sodronyos csillárokból csordogáló fényben, fennkölt palotában. Aztán ott voltunk mi hárman: János, Ágnes és Zsuzsanna. Asztal, terítve finom ételekkel. Budapest szívében.
En: The lights of Budapest night filled the elegant dining room of the Andrássy Avenue tenement with light. The elegance of days gone by reflected in the gilded mirrors, in the light flowing from the ornate chandeliers, in the stately palace. And then there were the three of us: János, Ágnes, and Zsuzsanna. A table set with delicious food. In the heart of Budapest.
Hu: Először Jánosról mesélek. János vicces ember, szívében nagy gyermek, aki mindig röhög és nevettet. Ágnes a felesége, szép, okos, kedves. Zsuzsanna, a barátunk, ő is velünk volt. Zsuzsanna nem volt boldog. Szomorúnak tűnt.
En: First, let me tell you about János. János is a funny person, a child at heart, always laughing and making others laugh. Ágnes is his wife, beautiful, smart, kind. Zsuzsanna, our friend, was also with us. Zsuzsanna wasn't happy. She seemed sad.
A tányérok, poharak rezdültek a jókedvtől. Zsuzsanna nem tudta elnyomni a mosolyt.
En: That evening, János decided that he would make Zsuzsanna laugh. He tried to pronounce tongue twisters, in Hungarian. János, full of confidence, began: - "Csacsi csacsika, csacska csacsi..." He laughed at his attempts, and we laughed with him. The plates and glasses trembled with joy. Zsuzsanna couldn't suppress her smile.
Hu: "Sörös sörtől sörös söröcskét..." Zsuzsanna nevetett, a szíve lágyult. A szíve mélyéről jött a nevetés, a zene bensőséges akkordja. Ágnes boldog volt, János boldog volt. Zsuzsanna boldog volt.
En: "Sörös sörtől sörös söröcskét..." Zsuzsanna laughed, her heart softened. Laughter came from deep within her heart, an intimate chord of music. Ágnes was happy, János was happy. Zsuzsanna was happy.
Hu: A vacsoraparti vidámságában ott lebegett a szomorúság árnya. János tudta, Ágnes tudta, sőt mi is. De a kacagás, a nyelvcsavaró megváltoztatta. A nevetés elűzte a bánatot, a szomorúságot. Zsuzsanna újra boldog volt, még ha csak egy estére is.
En: In the joy of the dinner party, the shadow of sadness lingered. János knew, Ágnes knew, and we knew too. But the laughter, the tongue twisters changed it. Laughter expelled sorrow, melancholy. Zsuzsanna was happy again, even if it was only for one evening.
Hu: A történet így zárult. Budapest szívében, aranyozott tükör előtt, étkezőben, gyertyafényben. Boldog emberek, jó ételek, szeretet, nevetés, nyelvcsavarós kacagás. János nyelvcsavarója, nyelvcsavaró próbálkozása, játék a szavakkal, a hangokkal. Mindez jelzi a reményt, az új esélyt, a változást. A lehetőséget a boldogságra, még ha csak egy estére is.
En: The story ended like this. In the heart of Budapest, in front of a gilded mirror, in a dining room, with candlelight. Happy people, good food, love, laughter, tongue-twisting laughter. János's tongue twisters, his attempts to play with words and sounds. All of this signals hope, a new chance, change. The possibility of happiness, even if it is only for one evening.
