Story Transcript:

Uk: Спекотній літній день у Києві.
En: A hot summer day in Kyiv.

Uk: Вулицями потягом рушили хмари, залишаючи за собою лише спеку та смугастий асфальт ледь відчутного дощу.
En: The clouds moved through the streets, leaving behind only the heat and streaked asphalt from a barely noticeable rain.

Uk: Саме у такий гарячий день Оксана й обрала для того, щоб зібрати будинок своєї великій родині на сімейні посиденьки.
En: It was on such a hot day that Oksana chose to gather her large family for a family gathering.

Uk: Вона вважала, що не може бути кращого дня для того, щоб вдягти свою нову вишиванку, яку саме зробила.
En: She believed there couldn't be a better day to wear her new embroidered shirt, which she had just made.

Uk: Коли відкриваєш двері в її квартиру, захоплюєшся: тут завжди приємний запах свіжої випічки та гарячого борщу, а в кухні завжди варілося кави.
En: When you open the door to her apartment, you are delighted: there is always a pleasant smell of fresh baking and hot borscht, and the coffee is always brewing in the kitchen.

Uk: Вона готує смачно і годує шумно.
En: She cooks deliciously and feeds everyone loudly.

Uk: Окілля столу було заповнено людьми: дядьки, тітки, бабусі, дідусі, двоюрідні брати та сестри - всі присутні.
En: The table was filled with people: uncles, aunts, grandmothers, grandfathers, cousins - everyone was present.

Uk: Оксана з радістю подала головне блюдо вечора - борщ, який кипів у великій гарячій каструлі.
En: Oksana joyfully served the main dish of the evening - borscht, which was boiling in a large hot pot.

Uk: Вона рушила кастрюлю з місця.
En: She started to move the pot.

Uk: Лише вона підняла її, як незграбний рух ізнадви вивернув каструлю з рук.
En: Just as she lifted it, an awkward movement from above knocked the pot out of her hands.

Uk: Борщ з хлюпотом вилетів з каструлі прямо на її свіжу вишиванку.
En: The borscht, with a slosh, flew out of the pot and landed directly on her fresh embroidered shirt.

Uk: Миттєва тиша в кімнаті була настільки гучною, що, здавалося, крикнути було б неможливо.
En: The instant silence in the room was so loud that it seemed impossible to shout.

Uk: Оксана всміхається, поглядаючи на свою заплямовану вишиванку.
En: Oksana smiled, looking at her stained shirt.

Uk: Вона піднімає погляд та бачить здивовані обличчя своїх рідних.
En: She looked up and saw the surprised faces of her loved ones.

Uk: Сімейні посиденьки на мить призупинилися.
En: The family gathering momentarily paused.

Uk: "Так,вишиванку можна замінити, а от сім'я - ніколи," сказала Оксана, і її сміх розколов тишу.
En: "Yes, the shirt can be replaced, but family - never," said Oksana, and her laughter shattered the silence.

Uk: Родина почала сміятися.
En: The family started laughing.

Uk: Мати принесла нову вишиванку, а бабця знову розповіла історію про те, як вона колись розлила компот на свою весільну сукню.
En: Oksana's mother brought a new embroidered shirt, and her grandmother told the story again of how she once spilled fruit punch on her wedding gown.

Uk: Так, вечір, який мав бути пам'ятним за новою вишиванкою, став незабутнім через щось набагато важливіше - сміх, що звучав в кухні Оксани над долею розлитого борщу.
En: So, the evening that was meant to be memorable because of the new embroidered shirt became unforgettable because of something much more important - laughter, which echoed in Oksana's kitchen over the fate of the spilled borscht.

Uk: А наступного дня вона заплела до своєї вишиванки красиві червоні нитки – щоб нагадувати о цій історії.
En: And the next day, she braided beautiful red threads into her shirt to remind herself of this story.
