The first episode of this season features journalist and UBC Creative Writing professor Deborah Campbell talking about her new book, “A Disappearance in Damascus: A Story of Friendship and Survival in the Shadow of War”. Recently nominated for the Hilary Weston Writers Trust Non-Fiction Award, this book deals with her search for her Iraqi fixer in Syria after the fall of Saddam Hussein.
