Finnish music machine Lost Society are preparing to unleash their latest album If The Sky Came Down on September 30.
Playing a brand of metal that is both instantly recognizable but also refreshingly individual, Lost Society have spent the last 12 years building towards this album that is set to knock them unequivocally into the next echelon of modern metal.
With the singles ‘112’, ‘Stitches’ and ‘What Have I Done’ already decimating eardrums the world over, If The Sky Came Down is full of catchy choruses, meaty hooks and chunky breakdowns that should just see Lost Society found on a global scale.
HEAVY caught up with vocalist Samy Elbanna for a chat about the record.
"From a musical point of view, Lost Society has always been a band that...”, he measured, “we're not ashamed to carry our influences on our sleeves very heavily. When we started the band our influences lay very heavily with bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Children Of Bodom, Megadeath and stuff like that but as the years have gone by I feel like our musical horizons have opened a lot and all of us, more than anything, are lovers of music and the only genres that we like is music that we enjoy and music that we don't enjoy. For us, If The Sky Came Down is a very accurate representation of what we listen to and what we observe in the world in 2022. You have your classic Lost society fast, adrenalin soaked heavy metal music, but you also on the other hand have the super melodic side. You have the slower songs, you've got the faster songs and everything in between. Honestly, If The Sky Came Down is the best of all worlds of Lost Society in 2022."
In the full interview, Samy talks more about the songs on If The Sky Came Down, how it is their most ambitious album of their career, the title and its significance, the light and shade inherent musically, future plans and more.
