Abbiamo parlato:

Welcome to another episode of T4B Recruiting Talk! Our host Valerie Schena Ehrenberger is joined by Wolfram Troeger, a search and selection consultant and executive searcher from Germany. Wolfram is not only vice president of ECSSA – the European Confederation of Search and Selection Associations, but also vice president of the German Consulting Association BDU. This makes him the right person to give us some insight on the German market!
As recruiters, it is crucial for us to understand the dynamics and characteristics of different markets, especially in Europe where candidates are looking more and more abroad for opportunities and companies ask for cross border expertise. In this episode, Valerie and Wolfram discuss the growth of the German market, which has witnessed a remarkable increase from €1.5 billion to €3 billion in turnover over the past decade. They highlight that this market primarily focuses on retained search projects, and that small-sized consultancy offices make up the majority of the market. Wolfram also reveals that diversity is present within this industry, with 55% of employees being women.
Moreover, Wolfram sheds light on the challenges faced by companies in finding the right talent, spurred on by the growing complexity of HR tech tools. Mid-sized companies in Germany, in particular, struggle to navigate through the myriad of tools available and seek the expertise of experienced consultants.
Interestingly, Wolfram reflects on both the fears and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the search and selection industry. While some consultants worry about the impact on their business, the German Association BDU actively supports its members by providing education and insights on AI tools to embrace the changes.
What are the characteristics a Search & Selection Consultant must have to make a difference in today’s market? Wolfram is convinced that success lies in the “magic triangle”: experience, technology and enthusiasm.

Buona visione, buon ascolto,
Valerie Schena Ehrenberger
