In 2013, Sulem Urbina and younger brother, Alexis, were competing in amateur boxing hoping to make the 2016 Olympic team. Sulem was hoping to represent Mexico, and Alexis for the United States. In September of that year, Alexis was beaten inside his home by some intruders and died a few days later due to the injuries.
