The water temperature is around 75 degrees, and the lake is slightly below pool level, at about 1.37 feet down. The water is stained, which can make for some challenging but rewarding fishing.

Sunrise today is at around 7:30 AM, and sunset will be at approximately 7:15 PM. These twilight hours are prime times for catching some of the biggest fish of the year.

### Fish Activity
Striped bass fishing is really picking up with the cooler days. These fish are schooling up and moving quickly in big groups, particularly near the river channels and around the railroad bridge. You can also find them in the tributaries and creeks, which is a new territory for them this time of year.

### Types and Amounts of Fish
Yesterday saw a good number of striped bass caught, with many fish in the 30 feet of water or less range. There were also reports of white bass and hybrids being caught, especially in the main lake areas. Crappie fishing has been slow but can be productive with minnows and jigs near docks and brush piles.

### Best Lures and Bait
For striped bass, live shad, slabs, and topwaters are highly effective. Start with topwaters in shallow water early in the morning, especially under birds, and then switch to slabs as the sun rises. For white bass, slab spoons and topwaters are working well, especially in mid-lake areas. Crappie are biting on minnows and small shad on hooks with split shots in 12-20 feet of water near points and creeks.

One of the hot spots right now is the area east of the 377 bridge, where fish are relating to flats and ledges in 12-25 feet of water. Another productive area is the river ledge near the north end of the lake, where striped bass are hanging out in big groups.

The early morning hours are crucial, as the fish are seeking cooler waters in the shallows during this time. Stealth is key, especially with the reduced lake traffic since the children are back in school. If you can, try to fish during the week for better results.
