Story Transcript:

En: The story begins on a bitterly cold winter day in Oslo.

Nb: Vinden hyler og snøflakene danser i luften.
En: The wind howls and snowflakes dance in the air.

En: Lars, a little boy with rosy cheeks, walks alone down the street.

Nb: Han strever i kulden, skjerfet hans er rullet stramt rundt halsen.
En: He struggles in the cold, his scarf wrapped tightly around his neck.

En: But suddenly, Lars slips on an icy sidewalk!

En: His feet fly up and he lands hard on his backside.

En: He pushes off with his hands and feet and races down the street.

En: Around a street corner, there is a group of penguins.

En: They had escaped from a local zoo in the frost.

Nb: De spankulerte rundt som små sort-hvite sjefer.
En: They strutted around like little black-and-white bosses.

En: When they saw Lars coming down the street, they were very surprised.

En: Penguins are used to sliding themselves, but it is very unusual to see a human doing it!

En: The little penguins link their arms together and form a barrier to stop Lars.

En: But instead, Lars slides right through them like a bowling ball!

Nb: Han smiler bredt, armene spiler ut mens han sklir nedover gaten.
En: He smiles widely, his arms splaying out as he glides down the street.

Nb: Pingvinene begynner å forfølge Lars.
En: The penguins start to chase after Lars.

En: They slide and glide on the ice floes behind him.

En: At one point, they jump up and down to gain more speed.

En: They glide down the street as if it were an iceberg.

En: Finally, Lars stops at the bottom of the street.

En: He shivers and laughs at the same time.

En: The penguins glide in beside him and they all start laughing.

En: They flap their wings and bounce around like enthusiastic cheerleaders.

En: After a while, the zookeepers from the park arrive.

En: They thank Lars for giving the penguins a fun experience and take them back home.

En: Lars becomes friends with the penguins from that day on.

En: And every time he sees a patch of snow, he can't help but smile and think of the day he slid down the street in Oslo with the penguins by his side.
