Rut 1: Una joya de las cenizas.

Rut 1:14-22:
Entonces ellas, alzando su voz, lloraron otra vez. Luego Orfa besó a su suegra, pero Rut se quedó con ella. Noemí le dijo: —He aquí, tu cuñada se ha vuelto a su pueblo y a sus dioses. Vuélvete tú tras ella.
Pero Rut respondió: —No me ruegues que te deje y que me aparte de ti; porque a dondequiera que tú vayas, yo iré; y dondequiera que tú vivas, yo viviré. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo y tu Dios será mi Dios. Donde tú mueras, yo moriré; y allí seré sepultada. Así me haga el SEÑOR y aun me añada, que solo la muerte hará separación entre tú y yo.
Viendo Noemí que Rut estaba tan resuelta a ir con ella, no le dijo nada más. Caminaron ellas dos hasta que llegaron a Belén. Y aconteció que cuando entraron en Belén, toda la ciudad se conmovió a causa de ellas. Y decían: —¿No es esta Noemí?
Y ella les respondía: —No me llamen Noemí; llámenme Mara, porque el Todopoderoso ha hecho muy amarga mi vida. Yo me fui llena, pero el SEÑOR me ha hecho volver vacía. ¿Por qué, pues, me llaman Noemí, ya que el SEÑOR me ha afligido y el Todopoderoso me ha abatido?
Así volvió Noemí con su nuera, Rut la moabita. Volvieron de los campos de Moab y llegaron a Belén al comienzo de la siega de la cebada.

Esta es una de las historias más conocidas y emocionantes de la Biblia. El sufrimiento, la confusión, la pobreza y la decepción son parte de esta historia. También veremos el rescate, la redención, la misericordia, el amor, la compasión y la bendición.

Esta es la historia de una familia que estaba sufriendo necesidades en su tierra por el pecado y la maldad. El problema fue que se refugiaron en una tierra donde no tenían ningún respeto y temor a Dios, donde no estaba el tabernáculo ni el altar de Dios.
Esta familia, compuesta por dos padres, dos hijos y sus esposas, sufrieron grandes calamidades: los varones murieron y quedaron las mujeres viudas. Una nuera decidió volver a la casa de su madre pero la otra nuera decidió seguir a su suegra a la tierra de Israel.

Las palabras de Rut son palabras muy conmovedoras y ejemplares del compromiso y el amor de un ser querido a otro.
Seamos como Rut, una mujer que tuvo la opción de rehacer su vida con otro hombre en su tierra o regresar con su familia, pero decidió honrar a su suegra como una madre, apoyándola, ayudándola y acompañándola en su regreso a una tierra que no era la tierra de Rut. Ella hizo un pacto con Noemí de adoptar sus costumbres, su cultura y su Dios.
Es cierto que Noemí estaba sufriendo porque se refugió en un lugar lejos de Dios. Ahora, Noemí estaba recibiendo su primera bendición cuando decidió volver a su tierra, a la tierra del pueblo escogido de Dios. Ella había perdido todo: su esposo, sus hijos, su familia, su hogar, el soporte económico, la honra… pero Dios la consolaba con una compañía, con alguien que sería como una hija que, aunque era extranjera, sería el vaso que Dios usaría para restaurar el honor, la honra y las bendiciones de Dios en la vida de Noemí. Rut sería una joya rescatada del fuego, de las cenizas.
Esto es lo que Dios hace con aquellos que regresan al buen camino, a su Creador, a su Salvador. Dios bendice y crea la forma para dar una nueva oportunidad de vivir una vida de bendición a aquellos que salen del fuego y vuelven a casa.
Dios restauró lo que el hijo pródigo perdió, lo que a David se le había arrebatado, la vida del hijo de una viuda que había muerto, y muchos ejemplos más que iremos viendo en los siguientes libros que estudiaremos. Es claro que Dios bendice después de la pérdida.
Acompáñame a ver el desarrollo de esta historia trágica con un final feliz.

Ruth 1: A jewel from the ashes.

Ruth 1:14-22:
Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.”
But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”
When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her. Now the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them; and the women said, “Is this Naomi?”
But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?”
So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.

This is one of the known and exciting stories of the Bible. Suffering, confusion, poverty and disappointment are part of this story. We will also see ransom, redemption, mercy, love, compassion and blessing.

This is the story of a family that was in need in their land because of sin and wickedness. The problem was that they took refuge in a land where they had no respect and fear of God, where the tabernacle and the altar of God were not.
This family, made up of two parents, two children and their wives, suffered great calamities: the men died and the women were widowed. One daughter-in-law decided to return to her mother's house but the other daughter-in-law decided to follow her mother-in-law to the land of Israel.

Ruth's words are very moving and exemplary words of commitment and love from one loved one to another.
Let us be like Ruth, a woman who had the option of rebuilding her life with another man on her land or returning to her family, but decided to honor her mother-in-law as a mother, supporting her, helping her and accompanying her on her return to a land that was not Ruth's land. She made a pact with Naomi to adopt her customs, her culture and her God.
It is true that Naomi was suffering because she took refuge in a place far from God. Now, Naomi was receiving her first blessing when she decided to return to her land, to the land of God's chosen people. She had lost everything: her husband, her children, her family, her home, economic support, honor... but God consoled her with a company, with someone who would be like a daughter, who, although she was a foreigner, would be the vessel that God would use to restore the honor and blessings of God in Naomi's life. Ruth would be a jewel rescued from the fire, from the ashes. This is what God does with those who return to the right path, to their Creator, to their Savior. God blesses and creates a way to give a new opportunity to live a blessed life to those who come out of the fire and return home.
God restored what the prodigal son lost, what had been taken from David, the life of a widow's son who had died, and many more examples that we will see in the following books that we will study. It is clear that God blesses after loss.
