Story Transcript:

Ga: Bhí an samhradh ag críoch go mall in Éirinn, agus bhí séasúr an choláiste tosaithe arís.
En: The summer was slowly ending in Ireland, and the college season had started again.

Ga: Bhí Ronán ag iarraidh íomhá mhaith a chruthú dá chomhdhaltaí nua.
En: Ronan wanted to make a good impression on his new classmates.

Ga: Chónaigh sé i dorm beag i taobh an choláiste.
En: He lived in a small dorm on the side of the college.

Ga: Bhí na ballaí bána agus na hallaí fada.
En: The walls were white, and the halls were long.

Ga: Bhí postaeirí agus fógraí crochta ar na cláir fhógraí.
En: Posters and notices were hung on the bulletin boards.

Ga: Maidin amháin, shocraigh Ronán go gcaithfeadh sé an bruscar amach sula dtiocfadh a chomráidithe nua abhaile.
En: One morning, Ronan decided he would take out the trash before his new roommates arrived home.

Ga: Ach, rinne sé dearmad a eochair a thógáil.
En: However, he forgot to take his key.

Ga: D’imigh sé amach ina chuid fo-éadaigh.
En: He went out in his underwear.

Ga: Bhí a intinn gnóthach le smaointe pleanála agus níor thug sé faoi deara nach raibh eochair aige.
En: His mind was busy with planning thoughts, and he didn't notice he didn't have his key.

Ga: Nuair a dhún an doras taobh thiar de, thuig sé a bhotún láithreach.
En: When the door closed behind him, he immediately realized his mistake.

Ga: Bhí an iomaire faoi dhíomá go tobann.
En: Suddenly, he felt disappointed.

Ga: Bhí sé i lár an halla, gan éadaí oiriúnacha, ag breathnú timpeall go neirbhíseach.
En: He was in the middle of the hall, without proper clothes, looking around nervously.

Ga: Níor mhaith leis go bhfeicfeadh a dhaoine é.
En: He didn't want anyone to see him.

Ga: Bhí ócáid eoleáilneachta ar bun ar an urlár sin an lá sin.
En: There was an orientation event on that floor that day.

Ga: "Cad a dhéanfaidh mé?
En: "What will I do?"

Ga: " a cheap sé.
En: he thought.

Ga: Bhreathnaigh sé ar an doras dúnta.
En: He looked at the closed door.

Ga: Níor mhór dó teacht ar ais isteach gan éinne a fheiceáil.
En: He needed to get back inside without anyone seeing him.

Ga: Bhí dhá rogha aige: chuige an RA a lorg nó dul go dtí an deasc tosaigh le heochair spártha a fháil.
En: He had two choices: look for the RA or go to the front desk to get a spare key.

Ga: Shocraigh sé dul ar an misean rúnda.
En: He decided to go on a secret mission.

Ga: Chroith a chroí agus é ag dul síos an halla.
En: His heart shook as he walked down the hall.

Ga: Chuala sé gáire ó ghluaiseacht na mac léinn nua.
En: He heard laughter from the movement of the new students.

Ga: D’fhan sé amháin taobh thiar de chúinne go dtí go raibh an cosán glan.
En: He stayed behind a corner until the coast was clear.

Ga: Ansin, shin sé i dtreo an deasc tosaigh.
En: Then, he hurried towards the front desk.

Ga: Rith sé go tostach, a chroí ag bualadh go tapa.
En: He ran quietly, his heart pounding fast.

Ga: Ní raibh sé ach cúpla céim ón deasc nuair a tháinig grúpa freshmen timpeall céim amháin uaidh.
En: He was only a few steps away from the desk when a group of freshmen came around just one step away from him.

Ga: Lúb sé síos taobh thiar de tolg ar feadh momenta.
En: He ducked behind a couch for a moment.

Ga: Ar deireadh, shroich sé an deasc go sábháilte.
En: Finally, he reached the desk safely.

Ga: Mhínigh sé an scéal go gasta agus go sosach don ionadaí.
En: He quickly and quietly explained the situation to the representative.

Ga: Thug sé eochair spártha dó agus rith sé ar ais go tapa.
En: They gave him a spare key, and he ran back quickly.

Ga: Nuair a d’oscail sé an doras, chuala sé sraith gáire ón seomra.
En: When he opened the door, he heard a series of laughs from the room.

Ga: Bhí a chomh-dhaltaí nua i láthair, ag féachaint ar an scáileán.
En: His new classmates were present, watching the screen.

Ga: Bhí siad tar éis féachaint ar an scannán slándála.
En: They had watched the security footage.

Ga: "Haigh Ronán!
En: "Hey Ronan!

Ga: An raibh aimsiú eochair spártha deacair?
En: Was finding a spare key difficult?"

Ga: " a dúirt duine acu go magúil.
En: one of them said mockingly.

Ga: Bhí Ronán ag súil leis an náire, ach ansin thosaigh sé ag gáire leis na daoine eile.
En: Ronan expected the embarrassment, but then he started laughing with the others.

Ga: Thosaigh sé ag tuiscint nach bhfuil aon rud foirfe agus go bhfuil gach duine ag déanamh botún.
En: He began to realize that nothing is perfect and that everyone makes mistakes.

Ga: Mhothaigh sé níos ciúine.
En: He felt calmer.

Ga: "Ba bhotún dúr é, ach chuimhnigh mé rud éigin.
En: "It was a silly mistake, but I remembered something.

Ga: Tá an coláiste lán le heachtraí greannmhara.
En: College is full of funny adventures.

Ga: Tá muid ar fad anseo chun fás agus foghlaim.
En: We're all here to grow and learn."

Ga: " Ón lá sin amach, níor ghlac Ronán a shaoirse rómhór dáiríre.
En: From that day on, Ronan didn’t take himself too seriously.

Ga: Ar aghaidh, bhí sé níos solúbtha, níos suaimhní, agus sásta go raibh a chéad scéal tromchúiseach ann le hinsint ar feadh na mblianta.
En: Moving forward, he was more flexible, more relaxed, and happy to have a serious story to tell for years to come.

Ga: An deireadh!
En: The end!
