Tai Tokerau Border Control wants to be sure every car coming through Northland's checkpoints are following the Covid requirements.
That's despite Police already saying not every vehicle will be stopped at the two short-term northbound checkpoints south of Whangarei from next Wednesday.
Reuben Taipari told Heather du Plessis-Allan they aim not to hold up people for more than 30 minutes.
“On the Te Hana border, it was four hours that they had with roadblocks and you guys never said anything about those ones.”
