Rather than sit idle in self-pity through isolation, members of Lycanthrope, Take My Soul and From Crisis To Collapse elected to be pro-active and not only come up with new music but also a brand new band to go with it.
"It's an amalgamation of a bunch of mates from across the Eastern seaboard of Australia getting together and thrashing out a heap of music that we're fans of", laughed guitarist Chad Ellis (From Crisis To Collapse), "very much in the vein of a thrashy blend of metalcore and traditional heavy metal."
One of the biggest issues musicians face when forming side projects is trying to avoid being a carbon copy of what is essentially in their DNA, but Ellis is confident the diversity within Faith In Lies will ensure their music can survive as a stand-alone creation.
"It hasn't been so much of an issue so far", he stressed, "and obviously people who know us will probably try and make those connections with our other bands as well but this is purely good time music with absolutely no agenda except writing stuff that we like and want to listen to and perform ourselves. For me, it's similar to the Crisis stuff. Our charter with them is, again, to write music that we are fans of and certainly Faith In Lies is that for all of us as well".
In the full interview Chad runs through the formation of Faith In Lies and their first single "I Can't Close My Eyes", their upcoming EP and future plans for the band, the usage of lyric videos in the modern age of music, separating your main band from a side project and how you attack that musically, what other band members think of him jumping ship, developing Faith In Lies' sound and more.
