It's no longer news that the hunger crisis in Nigeria today has reached its peak.

With food inflation now at alarming 40.66%, Nigerians have resorted to alternatives to replace certain food commodities. For example, reports indicate a significant shift towards using cucumber, carrot, and cayenne pepper as substitutes for tomatoes, which have seen prices rise sharply.

Following this, the federal government recently announced that it will implement a 150-day Duty-Free Import Window for critical staples such as maize, wheat, beans and rice. This initiative is aimed at stabilizing food prices and ensuring supply amidst domestic production challenges.
