Photography 101 is obviously a podcast series that teaches people about photography. The word photography was derived from Greek words meaning writing or drawing with light. This is a form of art and just like any other form of art, it can be learned. There is a lot to know about photography, such as the different types of photography, how to photograph properly using manual settings, the different techniques used, etc. In this series I intend to cover at least all the basic knowledge one should know about photography.
This episode, Darkroom Arts, is essentially about creating art work using the darkroom in the simplest ways possible. The darkroom is literally a dark room. It’s a workshop where photographers develop their film and prints. The room is completely dark, except for the light that comes out of the safety lights and the enlargers. This is because when working in the darkroom people use light sensitive paper, which is also known as photographic paper. If there was any other type of light in the room, the film and prints would get destroyed. In this episode I discuss my love of photography, especially when the darkroom is involved. I also talk about photograms and pinhole cameras because I find that they are the simplest uses for the darkroom, not to mention cheap, experimental, and enjoyable. All the information I have used for this episode is from my background knowledge in photography that I’ve learned from classes.
