Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal was a prominent figure in the Las Vegas casino scene during the 1970s and 1980s, known for his innovative management of mob-controlled casinos and his deep ties to organized crime. Originally from Chicago, Rosenthal was a skilled sports bettor who played a pivotal role in modernizing Las Vegas casinos by introducing practices like in-house sportsbooks and enhanced customer service. His close association with mob enforcer Tony Spilotro provided protection but also attracted significant law enforcement scrutiny. Rosenthal's defiance against regulatory authorities and his eventual involvement in a car bombing led to his banishment from the casino industry. He spent his later years in Florida, distancing himself from his controversial past, and died in 2008. His life remains a symbol of the intersection between crime and business in Las Vegas' history, illustrating the fine line between legitimate enterprise and illicit activity.
