"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10)
Now, many would read the past tense on this passage and perhaps think that the seeking and the saving of the lost is a thing of the past. But nothing could be further from the truth!
Christ still seeks the lost and still wants to bring salvation to the lost. He wants you and me, that is right, you and me.
"You and me? I am not lost" some might be tempted to say. However, whenever we sin we become "the lost", and it isn't until we recognize our sin and repent for it that we become "the found".
So do not fool yourself into thinking that when the Scripture warns against sinfulness and its painful reward, that it is talking to everyone else out there but you. We can do that sometimes. I know I have done that.
Instead, we, I, should look at Scripture as speaking directly to me, and you. I think we would be more than prudent to apply the Scripture to our life, and as St. Francis of Assisi said, we should "Preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary use words."
