Story Transcript:

Nb: Sola skinte inn gjennom vinduene i klasserommet.
En: The sun shone through the windows of the classroom.

En: It was a warm summer day, and all the students were looking forward to the vacation.

Nb: På tavlen stod det store bokstaver: "PRESENTASJONER I DAG."
En: On the blackboard, there were big letters: "PRESENTATIONS TODAY."

En: Among the many posters on the walls, filled with scientific facts and motivational words, sat Eirik nervously staring down at his feet.

Nb: Eirik hadde på seg to forskjellige sko.
En: Eirik was wearing two different shoes.

En: One was red, and the other was blue.

En: He hadn't noticed it until he got on the school bus.

Nb: Han kjente hjertet dunke hardt.
En: He felt his heart pounding hard.

En: How could he give a presentation looking like this?

En: "Elin," he whispered, tugging at his best friend's arm.

En: Elin, who always knew what to say, smiled warmly at him.

Nb: "Hva skjer?"
En: "What's up?"

Nb: "Se," sa Eirik og pekte ned.
En: "Look," said Eirik, pointing down.

En: Elin began to laugh but quickly stopped when she saw how worried Eirik was.

Nb: "Ta det med ro, Eirik.
En: "Don't worry, Eirik.

Nb: Dette ordner vi," sa hun.
En: We'll sort this out," she said.

En: Eirik considered hiding behind the desk or asking the teacher to postpone his presentation.

En: But something inside him told him he needed to face the situation with courage.

En: Maybe, if he made fun of himself first, no one else would.

En: The class buzzed with chatter when the teacher, Mrs. Hansen, asked for silence.

Nb: "Eirik, du er neste," sa hun.
En: "Eirik, you're next," she said.

En: Eirik stood up slowly, feeling the eyes on him.

En: When he reached the front, he positioned himself behind the teacher’s desk so no one could see his feet.

En: "I know you're all wondering why I'm standing behind the desk.

Nb: Vel, her er en liten hemmelighet."
En: Well, here's a little secret."

En: He stepped forward and showed his shoes.

En: The class burst into laughter, but it wasn’t mean-spirited.

En: It was warm laughter, and Eirik smiled.

En: "Yes, I ended up wearing mismatched shoes today," he continued with a twinkle in his eye.

En: "But let's get to my presentation, which is not about shoes, but about stars."

Nb: Han begynte å forklare sitt prosjekt.
En: He began explaining his project.

En: With each word, his confidence grew, and by the end, the whole class was clapping.

En: When it was over, some classmates came over and patted him on the shoulder.

Nb: "Bra jobba, Eirik!"
En: "Great job, Eirik!"

Nb: sa noen.
En: some said.

En: And then his big secret crush came up to him.

En: "That was funny and brave of you," she said with a smile.

Nb: Eirik kunne ikke tro det.
En: Eirik couldn't believe it.

En: Elin nodded at him, and Eirik felt something new inside him.

Nb: Selvtillit.

En: Outside the school, under the brilliant sun, Eirik knew he could handle anything.

En: Different colored shoes or not, he was ready for summer and everything it could offer.

En: That's how Eirik learned that owning your mistakes and laughing at yourself can be the path to true confidence and connection with others.
