Emily Aygun's Bio: My name is Emily Aygun, and I am a pole studio owner in Bend, OR who opened our doors in the midst of the pandemic in 2021. We are a trauma-informed pole studio space that focuses on progressive & accessible pole for all identities, sexes and people.
All of our instructors have gone through a trauma-informed pole instructor training and we have become a safe space and haven for a lot of people especially during COVID. Having gone through a large amount of trauma within my life time and developing CPTSD and later being diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s, I found that pole dancing had become an incredible outlet not only for me to use movement expression as a form of therapy, but also an incredible way for me to utilize vestibular movement to help control my ADHD.
My goal with pole dancing and my studio is to give a voice to everyone who enters my space or trains with me as a form of self expression and to release parts of ourself we didn’t even know we needed to. My background stems from being a personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist for 15 years, specializing in watching and identifying incorrect movement patterns and helping break the mold on how exercises are not a one size fits all.
I’ve worked extensively with all different body types and ailments to help my students and clients achieve their fitness goals by finding new and individual pathways to achieve their goals (and/or) moves. It’s easy for us to get a weekend certification and learn how to teach a ballerina. But can you teach it to all body types? That is what I do!
