show moreVector is partnering with IBM to pilot technology which will help predict where power outages are likely to occur during rough weather.
It'll also help pinpoint vegetation trouble spots that might interfere with powerlines.
Vector's head of network field services Marko Simunac says it means they can proactively place crews in the right areas during outages.
"If we have a mid-service warning that there will be a weather event which is likely to hit North Shore area, we believe this technology will give us actual insight of which part of the North Shore."
He hopes the technology will tell them which areas will be the worst hit.
"That means that actually we can put our people on our roster, we can change the way we operate."
