Description
From Mark Greaney, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Tom Clancy Full Force and Effect, Tom Clancy Support and Defend, and Tom Clancy Commander in Chief comes GUNMETAL...
show moreWhen Tom Clancy began looking for a co-writer, he found a kindred spirit in Mark Greaney. Greaney, whose Gray Man series was already drawing rave reviews, collaborated on three books with the legendary author before Clancy’s death in 2013. Greaney is keeping the stories of Jack Ryan and The Campus alive with full support of the Clancy estate. The legacy of Tom Clancy has continued after his death—Greaney’s first two solo Jack Ryan novels debuted at the top of bestseller lists. The fourth, Tom Clancy True Faith and Allegiance, was published in December 2016.
In the course of his research for both the Gray Man and Jack Ryan novels, Mark has traveled to more than fifteen countries and trained alongside military and law enforcement in the use of firearms, battlefield medicine, and close-range combat tactics to give his books realistic, you-are-there details. Mark keeps his finger on the pulse of military and geopolitical activities and in a 2014 interview with The Huffington Post posited that the U.S.’s greatest security threat was Russia’s Vladimir Putin—an opinion that this election cycle has proven to be quite prescient.
Mark has taken that foresight and has moved his sights to another international force, China, in his latest all-new, breakneck thriller GUNMETAL GRAY. Five years ago, Court Gentry was the CIA’s best covert asset. Then, without warning, his overseers at the agency put him at the top of their kill list. Court fled the country and became an enigmatic killer for hire known as the Gray Man.
Now, after five years on the run, Court is back on the inside at the CIA. But his first mission makes him wish he had stayed on their burn list when a pair of Chinese agents tries to take him down in Hong Kong. Court’s high-stakes hunt for answers leads him across Southeast Asia and leads to an old friend, Donald Fitzroy, who is being held hostage by the Chinese. Fitzroy was contracted to find Fan Jiang, a former member of an ultra-secret computer warfare unit responsible for testing China’s own security systems. It seems Fan may have been too good at his job—because China wants him dead.
The first two kill teams Fitzroy sent to find Fan have disappeared and the Chinese have decided to “supervise” the next operation. What they don’t know is that Gentry’s mission is to find Fan first and get whatever intel he has to the U.S. Complicating matters even further, Gentry runs afoul of an opposing assassin squad led by a femme fatale, whose skills may be able to match his own.
With the Gray Man series Mark Greaney has created a contemporary to Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, and Jack Reacher. It’s no wonder he’s the heir to the legacy of not just Tom Clancy, but also the heir apparent to writers like Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Brad Taylor, Robert Ludlam, and Lee Child.
