show moreWelcome to Stay a While with Tommi Vincent! Whether we are choosing what to eat or what paths to take in life, love is a strong determining factor. That’s why today’s guest, Heather Martin aka Chef Mommy and ⅓ of the hit Gospel group Virtue, is here discussing being a mother of four children with food allergies and how her path to self-acceptance has helped her spread the love that causes her family to thrive physically and spiritually.
My name is Heather Martin, I am one-third part of the gospel music girl trio Virtue. I love singing! I am also a wife, and mom of four kids with food allergies to nuts, milk, eggs, and fish! Inspire of the challenges, we've got a life that's full and fun, so I just thought this would be a great place to spread the love and share our journey, mostly of how I cook to keep the kids safe and our family healthy. The plus side is that all the recipes I share are VEGAN, and some are gluten free!

Key Quotes
“It turned my life around to realize because you know, when you're young, your young body can take a lot. When you start getting older, then you start realizing oh, my body doesn't like this, my body doesn't like that I should probably not eat this time of the night, or I should probably not do this. So at that point in my life food is when my awareness, my light bulbs about how important it is to nourish yourself properly and to pay attention to the things that heal you and the things that make you feel awful” - Heather Martin
“Whether you're vegan or not, or whatever you want to call how you eat, you have to practice self control and moderation.” - Heather Martin
“I'm spending so much energy wishing I look like somebody else, being somebody, trying to be somebody else. And when you do that, you don't allow yourself to really shine through. No, you don't. If you don't love you, nobody else can love you.” - Heather Martin
