Vortex binoculars aren’t the cheapest on the market, and for good reason: they’re extremely high-quality. You’ll therefore want to look after them well – here are some tips.

Before you even invest in a pair of binoculars, make sure you’ve considered where you’ll use them. If you’re likely to routinely come into contact with water, opt for fully waterproof rather than water resistant Vortex binoculars. Once you’re out and about with your new binoculars, always use the strap around your neck to avoid accidentally dropping them. Check the strap regularly for wear and tear. Clean the binoculars’ lenses carefully, gently blowing dirt and dust from the surface before then cleaning with a recommended lens cloth or lens pen to avoid scratching the glass. Be especially careful if the lenses come into contact with salt water. This should be rinsed off before wiping, or debris in the seawater could damage the surface. Always replace your binoculars in their case when not in use, and never leave your kit exposed to direct sunlight.

Finally, if something goes wrong, it’s really not worth trying to mend your Vortex binoculars yourself. These are sophisticated, precision tools, so always seek professional advice.
