show moreThis week is about failure. Or more specifically, my failure to make my earliest dreams come true - to be the lead singer in a rock band.
Of course I was technically the lead singer in many bands, but my childhood dream was to sing professionally. After a particularly piss poor showing during a recording session with legendary producer Kramer - of @ShimmyDisc Records fame - I all but gave up on that dream. With the exception of a few self produced demos, I moved away from music and let the dream die.
Now here I am in middle age wondering what kind of example does that set for my kids? I mean, if I could say with reasonable confidence I gave it my all and still didn’t “make it”, then I think that would serve as a fine example - but quitting the first time I face any adversity - ridiculous.
Can I redeem myself? Is it ever too late to conquer a fear, or to accomplish a long held goal? Is this a mid - midlife crisis?!
Oh, and I share with you all how I almost cut my finger off with a chainsaw!
